Mooi! Tova – textile art

Wool is a gift from the sheep to the people.

Since ancient times it has been used for spinning, weaving, knitting and felting into clothing and utensils. Felting is an ancient technique that uses water, soap and pressure to make a solid substance from carded wool.

In addition, Mooi Tova textile art is also:

  • dyeing raw wool
  • dyeing wool and fabric, in rainbow colours with minimal impact on the environment or with colours that nature gives us in all its forms (vegetable dyeing and eco-dyeing)
  • reusing old, often lovingly and attentively made, clothing, embroidery and blankets, into toys, bags, utensils and coats.

The emphasis in the courses is on felting in all its diversity, from simple utensils to combinations of wool and other fabrics.

What is felting actually?

Felting is making a piece of cloth without knitting, crocheting, weaving or otherwise braiding. Only by laying wool fibers in layers and working them with warm water, pressure and soap. The wool fibers will permanently interlock and form a coherent mass.

In this (basic) course you will become acquainted with this ancient technique.
